Young opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday.
Jaiswal, while representing Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 16th IPL, scored fifty off just 13 balls.
Previously, KL Rahul and Pat Cummins jointly held the record for the fastest fifty. They scored half-century off 14 balls.
Today, Jaiswal stole the limelight and broke the record for the fastest fifty in the cash-rich tournament.
Set to chase 150 runs in 20 overs, Royals chased down the target in 13.1 overs thanks to Jaiswal's firepower 98 not out. He missed his maiden T20 century by just two runs as the chase was over well before the respective overs.
Royals' skipper Sanju Samson remained not out for 48 runs. They both scored 121 runs together to make the chase easy for their team.
The fastest fifty record in T20 cricket is jointly held by Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, and Hazratullah Zazai. They scored the fifty off just 12 balls.
